El Paso, TX (October 15, 2026) – A 20-year-old man died after his 2019 Kawasaki Ninja collided with a 2005 Chevy Malibu on the 7900 block of Knights Drive on Wednesday, October 14.

According to the El Paso Police Department, the crash happened around 7:31 p.m. near Thomas Manor Park in the Lower Valley.

Investigators say the man was riding east on Knights Drive when the Malibu, which was heading west, turned. They concluded that speed and failure to yield the right of way caused the collision.

The rider was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries, where he later lost his life.

Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

Why Insurers Scrutinize Motorcycle Claims in El Paso, TX

Texas divides fault by percentage. A person can recover damages only if their share of the blame is 50 percent or less, and any award is reduced by that share. That rule gives insurers a reason to assign a rider some portion of fault, even when another driver's conduct was the main factor.

Adjusters handling motorcycle claims typically start with assumptions about speed, lane position, or visibility. Those assumptions can shape early offers, and a recorded statement given too quickly may be used to support them. Injured riders and families may want to review any request for a statement before agreeing to it.

Evidence can answer many of those assumptions. Photographs of the roadway, damage to the helmet and bike, nearby business video, and data stored in the motorcycle or other vehicles can show what happened.

El Paso riders use busy roads such as Interstate 10 regularly, and businesses along those routes may have cameras, although footage can be overwritten quickly. A wrongful death lawyer can request and preserve that material, evaluate how an insurer reached a fault percentage, and explain how a reduction might affect each case.
