Forney, TX (October 12, 2026) – A child was injured in a vehicle-pedestrian accident in the 1100 block of Flamingo Road in Forney on Saturday, October 10.

The Forney Fire Department and police personnel responded alongside ground and air medical crews to assist the pediatric patient. A CareFlite helicopter was dispatched to the area to transport the child to a hospital in Dallas.

The child's condition and the circumstances leading to the accident have not been released.

The collision remains under investigation.

We extend our thoughts to the child and family and hope for a full recovery.

What Should Parents Do After a Child Is Injured in a Pedestrian Accident in Forney, TX?

After a child is injured in a pedestrian accident, medical care should come first. Parents and caregivers should follow the treating medical team's instructions, attend recommended follow-up appointments, and keep copies of medical records, discharge papers, prescriptions, and bills. Some injuries may require ongoing monitoring or rehabilitation, so documenting treatment and any changes in the child's daily activities can be helpful.

When possible, families should preserve information about how the accident occurred. Details such as the time and location, the driver's contact and insurance information, witness names, photographs, and available video footage may help clarify the circumstances. Police reports can also provide useful information. If the family did not witness the event, it is important to distinguish confirmed facts from assumptions.

Insurance coverage may depend on the circumstances of the accident. A claim may be available through the driver's liability insurance, and other coverage may apply depending on the policies involved. Potential damages in a qualifying claim can include medical expenses, future treatment costs, and other legally recoverable losses.

Because a child's injuries may have effects that become clearer over time, families should be cautious about settling a claim before the child's medical needs and prognosis are better understood.

Texas follows a proportionate-responsibility system for many injury claims. The facts must establish whether another party was negligent and whether that conduct contributed to the child's injuries. Special legal rules may apply when a child is involved, so the circumstances should be reviewed carefully rather than relying on assumptions about fault.

Texas generally has a two-year statute of limitations for personal injury claims, but special rules may apply to claims involving minors and can affect how deadlines are calculated. Families should seek legal guidance about the applicable deadline rather than assume that the ordinary time limit applies unchanged.
