Montgomery County, TX (November 1, 2026) – A woman was killed, and a male passenger was critically injured when their car struck the back of an 18-wheeler in the 4000 block of FM 1485 early Saturday, October 31.
The wreck happened at about 5:15 a.m. between Jefferson Chemical and the railroad tracks.
Initial reports indicated that a Freightliner truck tractor was heading south and turning left into the Republic Waste Transfer Station when a 2013 Nissan hit its rear. The roads were wet at the time.
The woman driving the Nissan was trapped and died at the scene. The passenger was taken to HCA Conroe in critical condition and underwent surgery. The truck driver was not hurt. FM 1485 was closed and reopened just before 9 a.m.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
We extend our deepest condolences to the woman's family and loved ones. We also hope the injured passenger makes a full recovery.
Can a Passenger File a Claim Against a Trucking Company in Montgomery County, TX?
Yes. In Montgomery County, a passenger may file a claim against a trucking company if its driver or the company contributed to the crash. The passenger may also be able to seek compensation through the insurance policy covering the vehicle they were riding in.
When a large truck turns across traffic, its lights, signals, and the timing of the turn may help explain how the crash occurred. These details matter especially on dark, wet roads. Investigators may examine whether approaching drivers had enough time to react.
Depending on how the crash affected you, you may be able to recover compensation for surgery costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Future medical care may also be included if your injuries require continued treatment. Medical records and proof of missed work can support your claim.
Under Texas law, you usually have two years to file a personal injury lawsuit. Missing the deadline may prevent you from bringing your claim to court. Knowing how much time you have can help you plan your next steps.
If an insurer challenges your claim, a truck accident lawyer can look into the vehicles and companies involved. An attorney can also preserve evidence and request records that may be hard to get on your own.
