The South Hunt County Fire rushed to the scene along with medical units to assist those involved and manage traffic in the area. They did not disclose the full extent of the injuries.

The cause of the accident has not been determined. Authorities continue to investigate.

We are thinking of everyone involved, and we wish them a full recovery.

What Does Uninsured Motorist Coverage Pay for in Hunt County, TX?

Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage can help pay medical bills and other losses when the at-fault driver has no insurance or too little. Texas insurers must offer it with auto liability policies, and a policyholder can turn it down only in writing. If no written rejection exists, the coverage may be part of the policy.

The need for this coverage comes from Texas's minimum liability limits, which are 30/60/25: $30,000 for one person's bodily harm, $60,000 for all people, and $25,000 for property damage.

Medical bills and lost income can pass those figures quickly, and it can leave a gap when the at-fault driver carries only the minimum. Underinsured coverage is designed for that gap, while uninsured coverage applies when the at-fault driver has no policy at all.

Claims under this coverage usually go through the policyholder's own insurer, which can still raise questions about fault, medical records, and the value of the claim. In Texas, the policyholder generally must show the other driver was legally at fault and what the losses are worth, so documentation matters.

To make the process easier, a car accident lawyer can review the policy language, check whether a written rejection was actually signed, and explain how the claim may work alongside medical payments or health coverage.
