Fort Worth, TX (September 19, 2026) – An 18-year-old man died after a vehicle hit him on Interstate 35 West in south Fort Worth on Friday, September 18. The wreck happened at about 2:30 a.m. near Felix Street.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department, a minor crash had happened on the highway first. The young man was riding with a driver who pulled over to help. He stepped out to assist the people involved when a passing vehicle struck him.
The young man died from his injuries. According to a family friend, he did not know the people he stopped to help.
Police arrested the driver who hit him at the scene and charged that driver with intoxication manslaughter. Officers are also checking whether any other drivers share blame for his death. All lanes of I-35W stayed closed for about four hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
