Laredo, TX (November 4, 2026) – Four people were injured in a wrong-way, head-on wreck on the northbound overpass from Interstate 35 to Mines Road in Laredo early Sunday, November 1.
Officers arrived at about 4:41 a.m. and found that a black GMC Yukon and a red Chevrolet Tahoe had collided head-on. The woman driving the GMC and three people in the Tahoe were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
A preliminary investigation indicates the GMC was traveling the wrong way.
The Laredo Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
We hope all four people injured make a full and swift recovery.
What Injuries Are Common in Head-On Crashes in Laredo, TX?
After a head-on crash in Laredo, common injuries include head trauma, whiplash, chest and rib injuries, broken arms or legs, internal injuries, and back pain. Some injuries need ongoing medical care. Some injuries need hospital care, while others need follow-up appointments.
Because both vehicles are moving toward each other, a head-on impact can put considerable force on the people inside. Seat belts and airbags help protect occupants but may also leave bruises or minor burns.
Even if your injuries seem minor at first, symptoms can develop hours or days after the collision. Getting examined promptly helps you understand your injuries and receive treatment when needed. Let your doctor know about new symptoms, even if they begin after you return home.
In Texas, personal injury protection (PIP) is included in auto insurance unless rejected in writing. It can help with medical bills and lost income, no matter which driver caused the crash. The available payment depends on the coverage you selected and the costs you document.
Beyond what PIP pays, you may qualify for compensation for future treatment, missed earnings, reduced earning ability, pain and suffering, and vehicle repairs. The amount depends on how the crash has affected your life.
Under Texas law, you usually have two years to file a personal injury lawsuit after a car crash. Missing this deadline could prevent you from recovering damages through court.
If fault or your losses are disputed, a car accident lawyer can look at the vehicle damage, roadway evidence, medical records, and coverage. An attorney can also speak with insurers and explain how Texas fault rules may affect your claim.
