The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to the man’s family and loved ones.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim After a Semi-Truck Crash in Parmer County, TX?

After a semi-truck crash in Parmer County, a wrongful death claim can be filed by the surviving spouse, children, or parents of the person who died. They can file together or separately. If they do not file within three months, the estate’s representative may generally file unless all eligible family members ask otherwise.

Losing a loved one can bring emotional pain and unexpected financial challenges. Depending on your family’s losses, you may be able to recover compensation for lost income, funeral expenses, and the loss of love and companionship.

In addition to a wrongful death claim, the estate may bring a separate survival claim for medical expenses and the pain your loved one experienced before death. This claim focuses on the losses they suffered before passing away, rather than those experienced by surviving family members.

Under Texas law, families generally have two years from the date of death to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Missing this deadline can affect your ability to recover compensation, so understanding the time limit early is important.

Because trucks carry their own records, valuable evidence may include black box data, driver logs, and maintenance records. These records can help explain what happened before the crash. However, some information may be lost or overwritten if it is not requested early.

When a commercial truck is involved, a wrongful death lawyer can request the truck’s data and the company’s records before they are lost. An attorney can also coordinate the family’s claim and the estate’s claim so nothing is missed.
