Who Pays My Medical Bills After a Head-On Collision Near Cleveland, TX?
After a head-on collision near Cleveland, the responsible driver's liability insurance may pay your medical bills. This coverage can help with treatment costs when another driver caused your injuries. However, you may need to cover some expenses while your claim is being handled.
While the claim is pending, your personal injury protection coverage may help pay medical bills sooner. In Texas, PIP can pay certain expenses even if you were responsible for the crash. It may help with hospital care and other covered costs before you receive a settlement.
In Texas, hospitals can file a lien against certain injury settlements when emergency treatment remains unpaid. This may allow the hospital to collect some of its charges from your settlement. The hospital must meet legal requirements, and not every medical bill qualifies for this type of claim.
Under Texas law, you generally have two years to file a personal injury lawsuit. If you miss that deadline, you may lose the chance to bring your case to court. Keep the time limit in mind while you receive treatment and collect your medical records.
Because medical bills may involve different insurance companies, a car accident lawyer can help determine which insurance may cover your medical expenses. An attorney can also help address unpaid medical bills before you settle your claim.
