New Braunfels, TX (September 14, 2026) – A New Braunfels man was killed and a 3-year-old child was injured in a suspected impaired-driving head-on crash Saturday night, September 12, on FM 725.

The crash occurred around 7 p.m. in the 2500 block of FM 725 and involved a pickup truck and a sedan. The sedan driver died at the scene, while the child was taken to a San Antonio hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the pickup driver showed signs of intoxication. He was later charged with intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The pickup's passenger reportedly fled on foot after the crash but was later found and taken into custody. He was subsequently taken to a hospital as a precaution before being booked into the Guadalupe County Jail.

The crash is still being investigated.

We extend our condolences to the man's family and loved ones and hope the child makes a full recovery.

What Damages May Families Seek After a Fatal Crash in New Braunfels, TX?

Families who lose a loved one in a fatal crash in New Braunfels, TX, may be able to seek compensation for certain losses connected to the death. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, a wrongful death claim may include medical and funeral expenses, financial losses, and other damages.

Medical and funeral costs can create significant expenses after a fatal crash. Hospital bills, emergency treatment, funeral services, burial costs, and related records may help document these losses and provide a clearer picture of the expenses involved.

Beyond these immediate costs, families may also experience financial effects that continue after the death. Employment records, income information, household contributions, and other financial documentation may help establish the economic losses associated with losing a family member.

The circumstances of the crash can also affect how a potential claim is evaluated. Crash reports, photographs, witness accounts, vehicle information, available video, and other evidence may help establish what occurred and provide details about the circumstances surrounding the death.

Insurance coverage is another consideration that may affect a potential claim. Applicable auto insurance policies and communications with insurers may need to be reviewed when determining what coverage could potentially be available for the losses.

A wrongful death lawyer can help eligible family members organize records, review available evidence, and evaluate the losses connected to the death. An attorney may also explain the legal process and help communicate with insurance companies.
