What Legal Options May Be Available After a Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in El Paso, TX?
After a fatal multi-vehicle crash in El Paso, TX, eligible family members may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim, while injured survivors may have separate claims for their losses. Depending on the circumstances, a survival claim may also be available.
Under Texas law, eligible family members may seek wrongful death damages when a death results from another party’s wrongful act, neglect, carelessness, unskillfulness, or default. Recoverable losses may include lost financial support, loss of companionship, and mental anguish. A separate survival claim may allow recovery for certain claims the deceased person could have pursued before death.
People injured in a multi-vehicle collision may also be able to seek compensation for qualifying losses, including medical expenses, lost income, and other damages supported by the facts.
Relevant evidence may include the official crash report, witness statements, medical records, financial documents, insurance policies, and information about the vehicles involved. In crashes involving semi-trucks, records concerning the truck, its driver, and the sequence of events may also help establish how the collision occurred and whether negligence contributed to it.
An attorney can review the available evidence, explain the claims process, and help families and injured survivors evaluate their options. Liability may involve more than one party, depending on the circumstances, and insurance coverage and Texas filing deadlines may affect a claim. Each case requires an individual assessment of the facts and applicable law.
