Lubbock, TX (November 5, 2026) – Multiple people were left with minor injuries after a multi-car crash at 114th Street and Slide Road late in the afternoon on Wednesday, November 4.

Lubbock Police and emergency units were sent to the intersection shortly after 4:45 p.m. They helped the people involved and worked to clear the vehicles from the road.

All westbound lanes of 114th Street were closed at Slide Road after the collision. Drivers were told to avoid the intersection during the evening commute and use other routes.

Investigators are still working to learn how the vehicles came together.

We wish everyone who was injured a quick and smooth recovery.

Does PIP Cover Minor Injuries in Lubbock, TX?

Yes, in most cases. Personal injury protection, or PIP, pays medical bills and lost income after a traffic injury, no matter who caused it. Texas insurers must include at least $2,500 of PIP on every auto policy unless the policyholder turns it down in writing. It covers the policyholder, members of their household and passengers in the insured vehicle.

PIP is typically most useful for minor injuries. A sore neck, bruising or a mild concussion can still mean an urgent care visit, imaging, physical therapy and a few missed shifts at work. PIP doesn't depend on fault, so those bills may be paid while everyone is still working out who was to blame. Texas generally requires insurers to pay PIP benefits within 30 days after they receive proof of the loss.

However, PIP has limits. Once the policy amount runs out, the remaining costs may be claimed from the at-fault driver's liability insurance, along with pain and other losses PIP doesn't cover.

In these cases, a car accident lawyer can check whether PIP was ever rejected, keep track of what has already been paid and help decide when to move on to a liability claim.
