Should I See a Doctor for Minor Injuries After a Crash in Waco, TX?

Yes, you should see a doctor even if your injuries seem minor after a car accident in Waco. Some symptoms, such as headaches and neck pain, may develop later. Follow your doctor’s advice regarding treatment and follow-up care.

To document your injuries, keep medical records, bills, crash photographs, and the police crash report. These records can help establish a connection between your injuries and the collision while showing the expenses related to your treatment.

While your claim is pending, health insurance or applicable auto insurance coverage may help cover medical expenses. The benefits available depend on your policy, and you may still face out-of-pocket costs before your claim is settled.

Beyond medical expenses, you may be entitled to compensation for lost income if your injuries prevent you from working. Depending on your circumstances, you may also recover damages for pain and suffering associated with the crash.

If you share responsibility for the collision, Texas law generally reduces your compensation based on your percentage of fault. However, you cannot recover damages if you are found to be more than 50 percent responsible.

Under Texas law, you generally have two years to file a personal injury lawsuit, although certain exceptions may apply. Missing the applicable deadline could prevent you from pursuing compensation through the courts, regardless of the strength of your claim.

When an insurance company disputes the seriousness of your injuries, a car accident lawyer can review your medical records and help establish the extent of your losses. An attorney can also manage insurance communications and negotiate on your behalf.
