Houston, TX (October 22, 2026) – A vehicle went into a house on Harper Forest Drive, near West Mt Houston Road, in northwest Harris County.

The wreck happened Monday evening, October 19, and the driver struck a 15-year-old girl who was sitting in her room.

Both the male driver and the teen were injured and taken to the hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the driver could face charges of driving under the influence. No charges have been filed as of this report.

Investigators are still working to determine how the vehicle ended up inside the home.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected as they recover.

How Home Damage Claims Work After a Vehicle Hits a House in Harris County, TX

Homes in Harris County sit beside busy corridors, so a vehicle that leaves the road can reach a property quickly. The first step after a vehicle hits a house is safety: a licensed contractor or structural engineer can check whether the building is stable, and gas and electric lines may need attention.

To help document the losses of these kinds of accidents from the start, it is crucial to preserve photos, repair estimates, and receipts for emergency costs, such as boarding up openings.

Claims usually run on two tracks: the homeowner's policy usually covers vehicle damage, though deductibles and exclusions vary, and the driver's liability insurance may also owe for repairs.

If the homeowner's insurer pays first, it may later seek reimbursement from the driver's insurer through a process called subrogation. Texas requires drivers to carry at least $25,000 in property damage liability coverage, which can fall short of the cost of repairing a structural wall or roof.

Texas sets deadlines for both insurers and claimants. A homeowner's insurer generally must acknowledge a claim within 15 days and accept or reject it within 15 business days after receiving the items it requests, while a lawsuit over property damage or bodily injury is generally subject to a two-year statute of limitations.

Repair costs, policy limits, and exclusions can all change how a claim develops, so a car accident lawyer can help review the policies involved, communicate with insurers, and explain what options may be available for each case.
