Who Pays My Medical Bills After a Multi-Vehicle Crash in Wise County, TX?
After a multi-vehicle crash in Wise County, TX, your medical bills may be covered by health insurance, applicable Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or Medical Payments (MedPay) coverage, or the responsible driver’s liability insurance.
When seeking payment for treatment, medical records and bills can help establish your expenses. Crash reports, photographs, and witness accounts may also help show how the collision happened and who may be responsible.
Beyond medical expenses, a personal injury claim may include lost income, reduced earning capacity, pain and suffering, and property damage. The amount recoverable depends on the injuries, available evidence, and circumstances surrounding the crash.
If you share responsibility for the crash, Texas law generally reduces your damages according to your percentage of fault. You cannot recover damages if you are more than 50% responsible.
In Texas, you generally have two years from the crash to file a lawsuit, although certain exceptions may apply. Missing the applicable deadline could prevent you from pursuing damages through the courts.
When insurers disagree about payment, a car accident lawyer can review the available coverage and help resolve disputes over your medical bills. An attorney can also review a settlement offer and explain what it means for your claim before you accept it.
