Grimes County, TX (September 2, 2026) – One person died, and two others were injured in a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 30 near Farm-to-Market Road 244 in Grimes County on Sunday night, August 31. The collision happened around 11:15 p.m.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that a westbound pickup crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with a 1972 Dodge Polara sedan. The sedan driver died in the collision.
A westbound motorcyclist then collided with the Dodge. Emergency crews took the motorcyclist to a College Station hospital in stable condition.
The Iola Volunteer Fire Department found the pickup fully engulfed in flames. The pickup driver escaped with severe burns, and Life Flight transported the driver to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in stable condition.
The Texas Department of Public Safety closed SH 30 until shortly after 5:00 a.m. Monday. The investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing.
