How Much Auto Insurance Must Drivers Carry in Tyler, TX?

Texas requires drivers to carry liability coverage of at least $30,000 per person and $60,000 per accident for bodily injury, plus $25,000 for property damage. This is commonly shortened to 30/60/25. Those figures are minimums, not a measure of what a serious claim may cost.

When more than one vehicle is involved, each driver's policy pays only up to its own limits, and several people seeking payment may be drawing on the same overall cap. Texas insurers must also offer uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, and a driver who does not want it has to reject it in writing under the Texas Insurance Code. Texas requires drivers to exchange insurance details at the site, which gives each person a starting point for finding out what coverage exists.

Policy limits and coverage choices are written into documents most drivers rarely read. A car accident lawyer may be able to compare those papers against medical bills to show whether more than one source of coverage exists, so that review can matter before a settlement offer is accepted..

Reading through policy limits and coverage rules can feel like a lot when a claim is already underway. At Brian C. Gutierrez, PLLC, our team is available to go over how Texas insurance requirements may apply to your case.
