Rosenberg, TX (October 15, 2026) – Two people were killed Thursday, October 15, on State Highway 36 in Rosenberg, according to the Rosenberg Police Department.

Officials said the two-vehicle wreck happened in the afternoon, in the 1400 block of the highway.

Based on preliminary information, police described it as a head-on collision. Each vehicle carried one occupant, and responders found both people dead at the scene.

Lanes were expected to stay closed for several hours in both directions between Spur 10 and Walnut Avenue. Drivers were urged to use alternate routes. The investigation remains open as police work to learn more.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families of both people who died.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim in Rosenberg, TX?

In Texas, a wrongful death claim can be brought by the surviving spouse, children, or parents of the deceased. If none of them files within three months, the executor of the estate may bring the claim unless the family asks otherwise. Siblings and other relatives are not among the people the statute lists.

Deadlines shape every wrongful death claim in Texas. The general filing period is two years from the date of death, and a late filing can bar the claim. Recoverable damages can include lost income and support, loss of companionship and society, mental anguish, and loss of inheritance. Exemplary damages may also be possible when gross negligence is shown.

In Rosenberg, fatal claims can involve busy corridors such as US-59/I-69, where several drivers, insurers, or a commercial carrier may be involved. Texas also applies proportionate responsibility, so a person found more than 50 percent responsible for the harm generally cannot recover. A wrongful death lawyer can review which family members may be eligible to file, gather records, and explain how these deadlines apply.
