Jasper County, TX (October 28, 2026) – Two drivers were injured and flown to Houston-area hospitals following a two-vehicle accident on US Highway 190 near the Dam B bridge on Sunday morning, October 25. The wreck occurred around 4:30 a.m.
According to Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jamie Gunter, a Chevrolet truck struck the rear of a Kia near the traffic signal. The impact left the Kia with extensive rear-end damage.
The Chevrolet continued west for about 200 yards before striking a guardrail, destroying roughly 100 feet of it. The truck came to rest near the eastern approach to the Neches River bridge with extensive front and side damage.
Emergency crews treated both drivers at the scene before medical helicopters transported them to hospitals in the Houston area.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office closed US Highway 190 in both directions while crews established landing zones for the helicopters.
Authorities are investigating what led to the collision.
We wish both injured drivers a full and steady recovery.
What Compensation Can I Receive After a Car Accident in Jasper County, TX?
After a car accident in Jasper County, you may be able to recover compensation for medical bills, lost wages, vehicle damage, and pain and suffering. How much you can recover depends on your injuries and how they affect your daily life.
If your policy includes personal injury protection, it may help cover certain accident-related expenses regardless of who caused the crash. Texas insurers must offer PIP unless you reject it in writing. Your policy determines the coverage and limits.
To support your claim, keep your medical bills, pay records, repair estimates, and photos of your injuries and vehicle damage. These records can help show how the accident has affected your life.
Under Texas's proportionate responsibility rule, your compensation decreases based on your share of fault. If you are more than 50% responsible, you generally cannot recover damages.
In rare cases, Texas law allows exemplary damages when clear and convincing evidence proves fraud, malice, or gross negligence and other legal requirements are met. These damages punish serious misconduct rather than cover losses. Legal limits usually apply, with some exceptions.
Insurance companies may review your medical records, repair costs, and other evidence before making a settlement offer. However, their first offer may not cover all your losses, especially if you need ongoing treatment or time away from work.
Before you accept a settlement, a car accident lawyer can make sure it covers both your current and future losses. An attorney can also negotiate with the insurer if the offer falls short.
