Hearne, TX (October 7, 2026) – Two drivers died in a collision involving two 18-wheelers on Highway 6 south of Hearne on Tuesday, October 6. The crash happened at about 4:07 a.m. near Pin Oak Creek.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a northbound Freightliner was believed to have mechanical and lighting problems. Investigators said it was stopped or moving slowly when a northbound 1999 Peterbilt struck the rear of its trailer.

The impact pushed the Freightliner’s trailer into its cab. Both drivers were pronounced dead. DPS said both trailers were empty, and no cargo spill or hazardous material problem was reported.

Robertson County EMS reported that both directions of Highway 6 were closed between Cedar Loop and Old Hearne Road. The roadway reopened at about 12:30 p.m.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating what led to the collision.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of both drivers.

What Compensation Can Families Recover After a Fatal Truck Crash in Hearne, TX?

After a fatal truck crash in Hearne, families may recover compensation for lost financial support, loss of companionship, mental anguish, and funeral costs when another party is legally responsible.

When responsibility extends beyond one party, the truck driver, trucking company, cargo loader, or maintenance company may be liable, depending on what caused the crash.

Under Texas law, the surviving spouse, children, or parents may file a wrongful death claim. If none of them files within three months, the estate’s executor or administrator generally must file the claim unless all eligible family members request otherwise.

The estate may also bring a separate survival claim for losses the person experienced before death, including medical expenses and pain and suffering.

Families generally have two years from the date of death to file a wrongful death claim. Missing this deadline can prevent the family from recovering compensation.

During an already difficult time, legal deadlines and insurance paperwork can add more stress for a family. A wrongful death lawyer can prepare required documents, communicate with insurers, and help keep the claim moving forward.
