What Compensation Can Families Recover After a Fatal Crash in Milam County, TX?

In Texas, families may recover compensation for lost financial support, loss of companionship, emotional distress, and other qualifying losses after a fatal crash. These damages may be available through a wrongful death claim when another party is legally responsible.

When a loved one helped manage the household, their death can leave you paying for childcare, home repairs, and other daily tasks. A wrongful death claim may cover the value of services they would have continued providing for your family.

If your loved one received medical treatment before passing away, those expenses may be recovered through a separate survival claim filed on behalf of their estate. Funeral expenses may also be recoverable, depending on the circumstances and type of claim.

Under Texas law, surviving spouses, children, and parents can file wrongful death claims. If you qualify, the amount you may recover depends on your relationship with your loved one and how their death has affected your life.

To show how your family has been affected, you can gather employment records, financial information, and details about your loved one's household responsibilities. These records help explain their contributions and support the losses included in your family's claim.

As the claim moves forward, a wrongful death lawyer can review your family's losses and explain which damages may be recovered. An attorney can also examine available insurance coverage and address disputes over the value of your claim.
