Brownsville, TX (October 11, 2026) – Two men died in a three-vehicle crash at Paredes Line Road and FM 802 in Brownsville on Saturday, October 10. The collision occurred around 12:25 p.m.

According to the Brownsville Police Department, all three vehicles were traveling south on Paredes Line Road. The driver of a silver Chevrolet Tahoe reportedly experienced an apparent medical emergency and failed to control speed, striking a black Chevrolet Trax carrying two men. The Trax then struck a silver Nissan Sentra.

The Brownsville Fire Department transported three patients to Valley Regional Medical Center and Valley Baptist Medical Center. The two men were critically injured during transport and later died at a hospital. The third patient’s status had not yet been released at the time of this report. The Tahoe driver and Sentra occupants were reportedly stable.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the two men who lost their lives.

What Compensation Can Families Recover After a Fatal Crash in Brownsville, TX?

After a fatal crash in Brownsville, eligible family members may recover compensation for lost financial support, household services, companionship, mental anguish, and loss of inheritance. The amount available depends on the family’s losses and whether another party was legally responsible.

Under Texas law, surviving spouses, children, and parents may file wrongful death claims individually or together. Each eligible family member can seek compensation for the losses they personally experienced because of their loved one’s death.

Beyond a wrongful death claim, a survival claim may cover medical expenses, conscious pain and suffering, and other losses the deceased experienced before death. These damages belong to the deceased person’s estate rather than directly compensating surviving relatives.

In rare cases, exemplary damages may be awarded when clear and convincing evidence establishes gross negligence or other qualifying misconduct. A fatal crash or reported medical emergency alone does not establish grounds for these damages.

In Texas, families generally have two years from the date of death to file a wrongful death lawsuit, although exceptions may apply. Missing the applicable deadline could prevent your family from pursuing compensation through the courts.

If your family is unsure which claims to pursue, a wrongful death lawyer can explain your options and help determine which losses may be covered. An attorney can also handle the necessary paperwork and communicate with insurance companies on your family’s behalf.
