What Injuries Are Common in Pedestrian Accidents in Laredo, TX?
Common injuries after a pedestrian accident in Laredo can include head injuries, broken bones, leg and hip injuries, back injuries, cuts, bruises, and internal injuries. These injuries can make it difficult to walk, work, drive, or handle daily activities. Some may also cause lasting pain or require ongoing medical care.
After treatment begins, doctor’s notes, bills, and photos of visible injuries can help connect your injuries to the crash. Keeping these records together can also make it easier to show how your treatment progressed.
When a driver is at fault, the driver’s insurer may be responsible for covered losses. Personal injury protection under your own auto policy may also help with certain expenses, even if you were walking when the accident happened.
Beyond medical costs, compensation may include lost income, reduced earning ability, and pain and suffering. The amount available depends on how the injuries affect your work, daily activities, and recovery.
If the driver has no insurance, uninsured motorist coverage under your own auto policy may also apply to a pedestrian accident. Whether coverage is available depends on your policy terms and the protection you purchased.
In Texas, you have two years from the date of injury to file a personal injury lawsuit. Missing this deadline can prevent you from seeking compensation through the courts.
As the claim moves forward, a pedestrian accident lawyer can review available insurance coverage, address disputes over fault, and communicate with insurers on your behalf while you focus on recovery.
