What Should I Do If My Child Was Hurt in a Car Accident in Montgomery County, TX?

If your child was hurt in a car accident in Montgomery County, make sure they get medical attention right away, even if their injuries seem minor. You should also follow the doctor’s instructions, attend follow-up appointments, and avoid activities that could make their injuries worse.

Because young children can’t always explain how they feel, watch for changes in their sleep, appetite, behavior, or pain. Some injuries may not be obvious right away, so tell your child’s doctor about any new symptoms.

As your child recovers, keep medical bills, appointment notes, and receipts for travel or other expenses. You can also write down how the injuries affect your child's daily routine, school, and activities.

If your child needs ongoing treatment, your family's health insurance may help pay the medical bills. If your auto policy includes Personal Injury Protection (PIP), it may also cover passengers in your vehicle, regardless of who caused the crash.

Beyond medical bills, a claim may also cover future treatment costs, pain and suffering, and other losses related to your child’s injuries.

If you're unsure how to handle your child's medical bills or claim, a car accident lawyer can explain your options and handle the paperwork for you. An attorney can also make sure your child's future care needs are included in any settlement.
