Houston, TX (October 28, 2026) – One man died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in the 11800 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Houston on Sunday morning, October 25. The collision occurred around 10:35 a.m.
According to the Houston Police Department, a black GMC Terrain was traveling southbound at a high speed when it struck a silver Chevrolet Equinox.
The impact sent the Equinox off the roadway, where it overturned into a grassy median and struck a manhole cover before stopping.
The GMC Terrain also left the roadway and struck a tree. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the GMC driver dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Emergency crews transported the 40-year-old Equinox driver to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life and wish the injured driver a full recovery.
Who Pays My Medical Bills After a Car Accident in Houston, TX?
After a car accident in Houston, personal injury protection (PIP) may help pay your medical bills, regardless of fault, if you have coverage. Texas insurers must offer PIP, but you can reject it in writing. The responsible driver’s liability insurance may also cover your losses.
The sooner you see a doctor, the easier it may be to document your injuries and show how your treatment relates to the crash.
If the other driver had little or no insurance, your uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage may help cover eligible losses. Texas insurers offer this coverage, but you can reject it in writing.
To support your claim, keep your medical bills, treatment records, and the police report. These documents can help show your expenses and how they relate to the accident.
Under Texas law, you generally have two years to file a personal injury lawsuit. Missing the deadline may prevent you from recovering compensation in court, although exceptions exist.
While your claim is pending, medical providers may still send bills or request payment. You can ask about payment arrangements rather than assume a future settlement will cover every charge.
If you are unsure which insurance policy may cover your medical bills, a car accident lawyer can review your coverage and explain your options. An attorney can also help document your losses and negotiate with the insurer if your claim is disputed.
