Brownfield, TX (September 13, 2026) – A Brownfield woman was killed, and two other people were injured on Saturday, September 12, in a wrong-way crash on U.S. 62.
Texas Department of Public Safety investigators reported that the woman was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Trax northeast in the southwest-bound lanes when she collided head-on with a 2017 Ford F-150. The Chevrolet caught fire after the crash.
The pickup driver, a 38-year-old Denver City man, was seriously injured and taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock. His passenger, a 32-year-old New Mexico woman, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to UMC.
Conditions were clear, and the roadway was dry at the time. The investigation into the cause of the wrong-way crash remains ongoing.
